In 1990, while seeking to cast his sculptures in bronze Roger Questel invented a lightweight and affordable metal composite material. Roger filed for patent protection and founded Questech® Corporation. The material, Questech Metal, took on a life of its own. Questech® designs, develops and markets a wide array of products in the home décor and interior finishes markets.
Roger serves as the Chairman/Creative Director for all new Questech products and designs. Each original design is hand made by craftsman using techniques that have been developed over the 30 year history of the company in Vermont. Our products are then cast in molds, using ingredients also manufactured in the USA.
Questech metal was inducted into the Smithsonian Institute's national museum of design, the Cooper-Hewitt’s permanent collection of innovative materials and products. In 2011 Questech won the Vermont Governors Award for Environmental Excellence.
More recently Roger has also developed and a cast stone composite, a patented water based sealer for natural stone and is currently working on a natural infusion for wood gives wood superior properties such as inhibiting shrinking, warping and drying.
Roger Questel is a Parson’s School of Design graduate with a degree in Environmental and Product Design. As an accomplished wood sculptor, Roger has done commissions for many prominent clients, including Carly Simon, Orson Wells and Ralph Lauren.
